Peggy Parnass – Überstunden an Leben
Gerhard Brockmann, Jürgen Kinter, D 2018, 67 min, dt. OF
Film collage about Peggy Parnass, actress, court reporter, free spirit and tireless fighter for peace and justice.
The evening is dedicated to the memory of Parnassus’ parents Simon and Hertha, who were murdered by the Nazis in Treblinka. As a child she had to witness how the family was deported to the police barracks in Altona in the early morning in cattle carts. Her father was then deported to the Polish border on October 28, 1938 from the parade hall of the Viktoria barracks as part of the so-called Polenaktion. At that time, 17,000 Polish Jews without a German passport were forcibly expelled from Germany. In 1939, Peggy and her brother Gady came to Sweden via the children’s transports and later lived with an uncle in London. After her return to Hamburg, she wrote herself into the history of the hanseatic city with a variety of activities.
